We keep almost nothing.
What If has no ads, no tracking scripts and no analytics. You can ask questions without an account. Signing in is optional and only needed to keep your portfolio and alerts. This page lists exactly what passes through our server and who else sees it.

Without an account
- Your questions, briefly. The text of a question is kept in the server’s memory for up to 24 hours so the same question can be answered again without calling the AI model. It is not written to a database and is gone when the server restarts.
- A daily question counter. To count free questions per day we keep a one-way hash of your IP address in memory. The address itself is not stored, the hash can’t be linked across days, and the counter is cleared at midnight UTC.
- Server logs. Standard web-server logs of requests and errors, kept for a short time to keep the service running. If the AI model returns something unreadable, the question text is logged so we can fix the parser.
If you sign in
- Your account id. Sign-in is run by Privy, with an email code or a signature from your wallet. We store only the account id Privy gives us. We never see your email password, your private keys or your seed phrase, and signing in with a wallet never moves funds.
- Your paper trades. The rules, the paper amount, entry and exit prices and results, so you can see them on your page.
- Your alerts. The rules you asked us to watch and when they last fired.
- Telegram, if you connect it. Your Telegram chat id and username, to send your messages. Disconnect any time.
We never ask for a payment.
Who else sees data
- Privy runs sign-in. It holds your email address or wallet address for that purpose.
- Anthropic receives the text of your question when the site turns it into rules. Nothing else about you is sent.
- Binance and Hyperliquid provide the price history and live prices. Our server fetches them; your browser never talks to them.
- Hetzner hosts the server, in Germany. Vercel provides the domain’s DNS.
- Telegram delivers your messages, if you connect it.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces; your browser requests them directly, as it does on most websites.
We don’t sell data and don’t share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.
In your browser
The site sets no cookies of its own. If you sign in, Privy keeps your session in your browser’s local storage. Signing out clears it.
Your choices
You can use What If without signing in. To see or delete the data tied to your account, including paper trades and alerts, message us on X.
